These are color versions of the four monochrome images of Figure 17.1 on page 216. These were originally done in 1988 using Positron Emission Tomography and are also reprinted in Posner, M.I. and Raichle, M.E. Images of Mind. Scientific American Books, New York, 1994, p.115. They show left hemisphere activation while engaged in various tasks. As usual, yellow, red and white depict high activity.
